Best Viewpoints in South East London

South East London offers a number of spectacular vantage points across the Capital. We’ve pulled together a few of our favourites for you to enjoy.

The Point, Greenwich

The Point in Greenwich affords visitors a spectacular view of the entire city, including such landmarks as The Shard, Gherkin, London Eye and the Canary Wharf skyline. It’s the perfect spot to visit on a clear day.

Address: Point Hill, Greenwich, SE10

One Tree Hill

Sat in the heart of Honor Oak is the famous view point, One Tree Hill. This SE23 spot can only be accessed via the Honor Oak Park nature reserve. Climb up the steep steps until you hit a wooded summit and enjoy the expansive view across the City and West End.

Address: One Tree Hill, Honor Oak Park, SE23

Telegraph Hill

The Upper Telegraph Hill Park boasts the accolade of being the closest large hill to Central London. This New Cross local is often over-looked as one of the area’s best viewpoints. From the top you have a great view over London, and on clear days you can even see the arch over Wembley Stadium.

Address: Telegraph Hill, New Cross, SE14

Shooters Hill

Despite being over 10 miles from the city centre, Shooters Hill provides visitors with incredible panoramic views across the Capital. Measuring 132 metres, this quiet South East London area is a great place to visit if you want to avoid the crowds.

Address: Oxleas Woods, Shooters Hill, SE3

Horniman Gardens

Not only does this viewpoint allow you to check out some of London’s finest curiosities, it also gives a great vantage point over London. This 16-acre garden is also the perfect place to spot local wildlife.

Address: Horniman Museum Gardens, Forest Hill, SE23

Westow Hill

Despite being one of the most southerly points in the city, Crystal Palace boasts several fantastic viewpoints, such as Cooper’s Yard and Gipsy Hill. However, it’s Westow Park that we like going to again and again - as it’s here that you really get a sense of just how high up you are. Well worth a visit.

Address: Westow Hill, Crystal Palace, SE19

Ballast Quay, Greenwich

This local spot proves that you don’t need height to have a fantastic view. Head to Ballast Quay and stand outside The Cutty Sark pub for a swift pint and some stunning views across the Thames. You can admire the unique architecture of the O2 Arena, the expansive Thames and London Docklands area.

Address: Ballast Quay, Greenwich, SE10

Norwood Park

Located in Salters Hill, Norwood Park is a beautiful spot to stop and take in the view. Although it’s not as high as other South East London viewpoints, you can still enjoy an uninterrupted view over London. A metal plaque highlights the most notable buildings in the skyline.

Address: Norwood Park, Salters Hill, SE19
