A Guide to The Lanes - Brighton

A Guide to The Lanes - Brighton

Lying between North Street, East Street and Ship Street, The Lanes are a collection of narrow streets and pathways full of independent shops, boutiques and cafés in the heart of Brighton.

Historically a fisherman’s hang-out, the area has transformed into a hip hang out, perfect for a wonder at the weekend, a quick coffee or a bite to eat.

At night The Lanes are particularly spectacular, with pretty fairy lights and a genuine buzz and feeling of excitement radiating throughout the area.

Great independent shops include baby toy and accessory boutique, Lola and Deer, record store Vinyl Revolution, and Baroque Bespoke Jewellery

Dukes Lane is also a must visit, with on-trends stores from brands including Kiehl’s, Fred Perry and Farah, as well as independent outlets such as Jewel Thief

In terms of restaurants every type of cuisine is catered for. As the name suggests, Curry Leaf Café is great for Indian food, while Edendum and Petits Pois serve up delicious Italian and French staples, respectively.

Those with a sweet tooth will also enjoy the pastries and treats available at Julien Plumart and the chocolate delights of Choccywoccydoodah.

Once done wandering The Lanes, visitors should head to North Laine for even more independent shops, cafés and entertainment venues.
