The Best Christmas Lights in London

The Best Christmas Lights in London

While there will be no extravagant switch-on events this year, London is still set to celebrate the festive season with light trails and illuminations to help everyone get into the Christmas spirit. We’ve created a roundup of the best Christmas lights in the Capital.

1.     Oxford Street

This year, Oxford Street’s Christmas lights feature a special poem in tribute to all the amazing acts of kindness displayed across the world during the pandemic. Each week, the lights will shine the spotlight on the unsung heroes who have given selflessly to those most in need this year.
Nearest tube station: Oxford Circus

2.     Covent Garden Christmas

The 60ft Christmas tree will continue to glow across Covent Garden this year, glimmering with 30,000 festive lights. Elsewhere in the plaza, the lovely giant mistletoe chandeliers are back and the Christmas cheer is already in full swing.

Nearest tube station: Covent Garden

3.     Christmas at Kew

Kew’s renowned botanical gardens will be magnificently transformed into a seasonal twinkling trail along the Rose Garden. Take a stroll along the glittering tunnel of bells, giant illuminated seed heads and majestic trees.

Nearest tube station: Kew Gardens Rail station

4.     Regent Street

In its usual style, Regent Street will be covered in twinkling lights running from Oxford Circus to Waterloo Place. The Spirit of Christmas - the largest light installation in the Capital - pays tribute to the festive heritage of this infamous shopping district.
Nearest tube station: Oxford Circus

5.     Marylebone Village

One of the Capital’s most atmospheric high streets will be decked with sparkles to bring joy to the area. Along with a virtual Christmas Carol service on the 20th December, Marylebone Village is also raising funds for Teenage Cancer through a festive tombola with luxury prizes from local retailers.
Nearest tube station: Baker Street

6.     King’s Cross

This year, King’s Cross will deck three elaborate trees between Granary Square and Coal Drops Yard. The Terrarium Tree, a 28-foot structure made up of 70 little terrariums, will be lit up at night with each glass orb containing its own micro-garden. The Electric Nemeton Tree is inspired by ancient Celtic gathering places and the final tree, the People’s Tree, is a sensory light design which reacts to movements of passers-by.

Nearest tube station: Kings Cross and St Pancras

Each of these recommended venues are in line with the current Covid-19 safety regulations, and we recommend following the official UK guidelines for staying safe outside of your home. Please ensure you check individual websites for updated information.
