While there will be no extravagant switch-on events this year, the South East is still set to celebrate the festive season with immersive light trails and mesmerising projections. We’ve created a roundup of the best Christmas lights to visit this year.
After a tough year, Brighton continues to shine bright with magical lights across the city centre. From the twinkling lights at the Clock Tower, to the words ‘Love’ and ‘Peace’ across Western Road, Preston Street, North Street, and parts of both The Lanes. The decorations are paid for by the 517 businesses that make up the Business Improvement District (BID) who are collectively aiming to create a thriving, safe, clean and vibrant city centre.
2. RHS Wisley, Surrey
Further afield, RHS Wisely in Surrey have created an enchanting walk, reimagined for 2020, including a long glow trail with brand new lights and festive music. Tickets are limited and must be booked in advance, but the magic begins from the moment you arrive.
3. Leonardslee Illuminated
Set to reopen on the 11th December, Leonardslee is illuminated with a trail awash with light, sound, colour and festive cheer. If you are looking for a spellbinding experience for the whole family, book your tickets via the Leonardselee website.
4. Glow Wild at Wakehurst
The gardens of Wakehurst are brought to life with glowing lanterns, mesmerising projections and immersive soundscapes. Marvel at the UK’s tallest, living Christmas tree which has been decorated with 1,800 lights in a celebration of the hidden heroes this year.
