Arundel Castle and Gardens

Home to the Duke of Norfolk, Arundel Castle is one of the longest inhabited country houses in the country. With commanding views over the South Downs and the nearby River Arun, the castle and accompanying gardens are open from April until the end of October each year. A wonderful family attraction on a beautiful summers day.

Arundel Wetland Centre

Overlooked by Arundel castle, Arundel wetlands centre features a variety of lakes and ponds where families can enjoy a boat safari, a reed bed boardwalk or even take part in pond dipping. There are also lots of child friendly activities throughout the school holidays.

Chichester Cathedral 

Chichester Cathedral, located within the walls of the historic city, is one of the standout archetypal English Cathedrals in the country. The cathedral’s spire is viewable for miles around and the interior features historic and modern pieces of art. Entry is free and guided tours take place Monday to Saturday at 11.15am and 2.30pm.

Chichester Festival Theatre

Chichester Festival Theatre is a renowned centre for high quality productions and its work with the local community. While productions do run throughout the winter, Chichester Festival Theatre is most well-known for its annual summer Festival season which runs between April and October. With a wide range of productions for a variety of tastes, it’s worth checking out what’s on.

Worthing Pier

Worthing Pier, just a stone’s throw from Ferring, provides entertainment for all the family. Built in 1862, the pier features an amusement arcade and several notable artworks. The art deco Southern Pavilion has also become home to live music and events from internationally renowned artists.

Tangmere Military Aviation Museum 

Situated in a corner of RAF Tangmere airfield, a 30 minute drive from Ferring, Tangmere Military Aviation Museum is dedicated to preserving and educating future generations in military aviation. The Museum has a wide range of historic aircraft and memorabilia and visitors can experience “flying” on 3 different simulators.

South Downs National Park

Ferring is located just a short distance from the South Downs National park, recognised as an area of outstanding national beauty. Within the National Park, there are hundreds of highlights along the 100 mile South Downs Way and many beautiful villages, country pubs and stunning landscapes.

 

Uppark 

Located within the South Downs National park, Uppark is a glorious 17th Century House and Gardens with stunning views over the local countryside. Now in the hands of the National Trust, the property is a great place for a family picnic in the grounds.

Harbour Park 

Just along the road from Ferring in Littlehampton, Harbour Park is a family friendly amusement park. Among the many rides and activities, Harbour Park features a log flume, trampolines and dodgems. The park is open year-round, but outdoor rides close in the winter.

Goodwood

“Glorious” Goodwood is widely considered the most beautiful racecourse in the country, if not the world. The pinnacle of horse racing each year is Festival week, held at the start of August. The Goodwood estate is also synonymous with motor racing and each year The Goodwood Festival of Speed, held in June/July, celebrates the best in motor racing, both old and new.
