Top 5 cafés in and around Bethnal Green

No weekend is complete without meeting friends for coffee. Whether you fancy a caffeinated catch-up, somewhere to work remotely, or a date location, we’ve put together a guide to the best coffee spots close to Bethnal Green in East London:

E Pellici

This classic East London café on Bethnal Green Road, opened in 1900 and has been run by the same Italian family ever since. Rumour has it, the cast of Eastenders are regulars here, and even the infamous Kray twins once stopped by for breakfast.

As well as good, strong coffee, it serves up some serious comfort food. Think freshly baked pastries, gloriously greasy fry-ups, and old school Italian classics. Pellicci’s boasts an ornate panelled wooden decor and has now been awarded Grade II listed status by English Heritage.

Holy Shot

Holy Shot Coffee is an independent coffee shop based in Shoreditch, just moments from Brick Lane and Columbia flower market. It focused on high-quality ingredients, using local produce, with plenty of vegan and healthy options, too.

Ozone

Ozone Coffee in Shoreditch  is an international speciality coffee company which focuses on the way coffee is valued, grown, produced and enjoyed. It cultivates long-term relationships with coffee communities at origin, keeping in regular contact to ensure our producers are supported, specialise in sustainable dining, and great service.

The Canary

The Canary in Bethnal Green, combines a vegetarian café, a hair salon staffed by experienced cutters and colourists. It’s passionate about its respective crafts and takes great pride in providing a warm welcome to all, whether that’s for a new do, or a huge mug of coffee.

Pavilion Bakery, Victoria Park

In the heart of Victoria Park is Pavilion Bakery; a friendly café for Bethnal Green locals. Featuring a cup of tea that costs £1, excellent British cooking (like your mum used to make), plenty of seating and a roaring log fire, it ties the community of Victoria Park together. Perfect for Runners, dog walkers, dates, post-football drinks, and reuniting with friends.

Blu Ivy Café

Nicknamed the prettiest café in East London, Blu Ivy Café boasts everything from a full English, to shakshuka. It’s also got ‘superhero hummus’, divine scrambled eggs and, of course, coffee galore.
