There’s nothing like a trip to see the illumination of Christmas lights to kick-start the seasonal festivities. Here’s a rundown of the best Christmas lights London has to offer.

Covent Garden

Hot step it down to Covent Garden’s cobbled streets for this season’s festive lights. This year’s romantic theme Is “mistletoe” and over 40 mistletoe lights are on display throughput the market. Don’t forget to visit the handpicked Christmas tree majestically placed in the beautiful square.

Bond Street

Bond Street is renowned for its decadent and tasteful displays. This year is no different for one of London’s busiest shopping streets. Expect to see a beautiful array of illuminated peacock feathers lining the street.

Carnaby Street

Once again, Carnaby Street will push all artistic boundaries with its Christmas lights. This fashionable shopping street (and its 13 surrounding roads) has a reputation for putting on some of the most memorable in town.

Oxford Street

The capital’s most popular shopping street has produced a sterling effort this year with falling snowflakes, 1,778 Christmas decorations and 750,000 LED sparkling lightbulbs. What else would we expect from a “The Magic of Christmas” themed spectacle?

Marylebone High Street

This upmarket high street never fails to impress with its choice of decorations. What’s fantastic about Marylebone Village is that all the local retailers get heartily involved in the festivities. One not to miss, especially if you appreciate sophisticated displays.

Kew Gardens

Another year, another magnificent illumination. The winding mile-long path is flanked by singing trees, kaleidoscopic projections and lights shaped as botany. Children can also enjoy a visit to Santa’s Grotto, while adults can take advantage of the seasonal shopping and mulled wine.

St. James’s Market

Tucked away, south of Oxford Street, this stunning shopping area is filled with festive cheer. The St. James’s Market folk have decorated the streets with bright, shining stars and angels, which light up the sky. A lovely addition to the lights are the daily carol singers who will serenade shoppers with their favourite Christmas songs.

Seven Dials

Strolling around Seven Dials’ cobbled streets is magical at the best of times. Yet the area ups its game during the Christmas period. Cue wonderment and warm feelings.
