A common question we’re asked by first time buyers is whether they’re able to decorate a Shared Ownership home once purchased? The simple answer to this question is, yes.

In order to feel comfortable in your new home there’s nothing more important than making a space your own. It’s for this reason that we actually encourage homeowners to decorate their space as they please.

As a leaseholder, Shared Ownership buyers have the same rights and responsibilities as homeowners on the open market. Therefore, in the vast majority of cases, you are also able to make small repairs to the property.

Larger works do, of course, require permission. But don’t worry; our friendly team are on hand to assist with all enquiries.

We are also responsible for the maintenance of communal areas, such as the roof and outdoor spaces. To cover the cost of this maintenance work, a service charge may be applicable, which is typically charged on a monthly basis.

If you have any questions regarding decorating and the maintenance fees of our Shared Ownership properties, then please contact our friendly, expert team.
