If you’re lucky enough to live or intend to visit the Kent coast, then you’re in for a treat. The Folkestone area provides you with an astonishing array of family-friendly activities whatever the weather.

 

 

Sunny Sands beach

 

We couldn’t begin to give you family friendly recommendations without first mentioning the beach. Sunny Sands is one of the few sandy beaches within an hour of London. Fill your summer days with open water swimming, sandcastles and picnics.

Sea Safari 

 

Thrill-seekers can jump straight in to this adrenaline-pumped trip. Sea Safari is a unique family experience. Starting in Dover, step aboard the purpose built RIB speedboat to explore the local marine life, fishing villages and the Pegwell Bay nature reserve. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a seal or two.

Dover Castle 

 

Spectacularly set above the white cliffs of Dover overlooking the Kent coastline, Dover Castle boasts an impressive history which is sure to interest adults and children alike. You can even relive the war days by venturing underground to the Secret Wartime Tunnels set within the infamous white cliffs.

Lower Leas Coastal Path 

 

This coastal path is a great outdoor experience for all the family. The area is split in to three recreational zones. The Leas Lift Zone comprises of pine avenues, gardens and beautiful flowers. The Fun Zone is perfect for children as it houses the largest free adventure playground in the South East. Finally, The Wild Zone is a haven for quiet recreation and wildlife.

Ski Centre 

 

Take your budding Eddie the Eagles to the Folkestone Ski Centre to perfect their ski, snowboarding or tobogganing skills. Kidz Planet

Elham Valley Railway Museum

 

The much-loved bygone era has been devotedly recreated by the Elham Valley Railway Museum.
