If you’re based in East London and are stuck for inspiration on child-friendly activities in the area, then this is the list for you. We’ve compiled a whole host of Hackney-based events and activities, from morning raves to orienteering in local wetlands.

 

Morning Gloryville 

What better way to start your day then with a morning rave? This early bird dance session allows you to relive your glory days with your kids in tow. Top DJs are on hand to produce some invigorating tunes and you certainly won’t have to worry about a hangover.

The Castle Climbing Centre 

If your children like staying active, and want to try something new, then The Castle is the place for them. This climbing institution welcomes children over nine-years-old and of all abilities. Kids can try a variety of mountaineering activities from rope climbing to bouldering, abseiling to wall climbing. They also provide a great roster of courses and school holiday events.

Clissold Park 

Clissold Park boasts a rich history, with the former country house sat in the heart of the open space. The park is perfect for children as is clean, it hosts a welcoming café, and it hosts a variety of facilities. These range from a large children’s playground, padding pool, table tennis stations (remember to bring your bat and ball), tennis courts, a deer enclosure and more.

Kidzmania

Hackney City Farm 

There’s no need to leave the city with this urban farm. Take your children to see their wide variety of animals, from cattle to chickens, pigs to guinea pigs. Aim to visit on a Saturday when they host the Mini Farmers’ Club, where children (aged 8-17) help manage the farmyard and animals.

Hackney Picturehouse 

Never fear going to the cinema again with these child-friendly events. The Hackney Picturehouse has launched several kids groups, where you and like-minded parents/carers can go to watch the latest release. Big Scream is for babies under one and host adult films, whereas Toddler Time and Kids Club (aged 3-12) show kid-friendly movies.

Woodberry Wetlands 

This is the perfect weekend option for nature lovers alike. The wetlands centre sits in Stoke Newington and can be easily accessed via Manor House tube. It’s a great place to stroll around with your young ones. The centre also organises fantastic child-friendly courses and activities on weekends and school holidays, from bushcraft to orienteering.
