If you’re looking for a proper East End knees up, then the pubs of Hackney are the place for you. We’ve picked the best of the bunch from former Victorian firehouses to riverside retreats. This was by no mean an easy feat, Hackney has no shortages of great boozers.

Dove 

We’ve spent many a Saturday afternoon in the Dove. It’s perfectly positioned to capture you after your Broadway Market food shop/sampling, and pre-Saturday night drinks. It’s got a warm and inviting atmosphere, plus it’s a haven for any beer lover. It has an exhaustive list of Belgian beers. Sante.

Clapton Hart 

Where old meets new. The Clapton Hart is housed in a beautiful 18th Century building, while inside it’s a Scandi-enthusiasts dream with stripped back floorboards and homely furnishings. Plus, it has a fantastic beer garden in the back for long summer evenings.

People’s Park Tavern 

What’s not to like about People’s Park Tavern? It sits against the backdrop of Victoria Park, it offers a wide range of events from 90s nights, art exhibitions and themed pub quizzes, and it has its own onsite brewery. It really is a no-brainer.

Sat at the head of Broadway Market, separating the bevy of independent shops and London Fields park, is Cat and Mutton. Not only has it been welcoming guests for over 300 years, but it also does a really great roast. Book early for a Sunday feast with friends.

The Kenton Pub

The Chesham Arms 

Stumble upon this local gem down a Homerton back street. It’s a charming pub with character features and a beautiful lilac façade.
